#194 Mental Health and Tradespeople with Taylor Pagniello from Rise Psychotherapy

  • by

This is one show Carlito and Manny have wanted to do since the very beginning. We are going to upset some, we are going to bring up some issues that most don’t discuss, we will discuss addictions, anxiety, suicide, depression and more. This show might not be for everyobe but it’s a conversation we must have and at TCL we will never hide from speaking the truth.

Taylor is here to discuss mental health on the jobsite and how to handle yourself, your trades and the construction industry. She is a Registered Psychotherapy Qualifying with 3 years in the industry. Carlito brings up that a lot of tradespeople bring personal, home, family life to the job site and it can spill over and create a negative job site environment. The old school way of handling any issues was to ignore, deny, not speak about it, gone are those days, it’s really not about seeing a therapist, begin with speaking to someone in your circle, have an open and honest conversation about what’s really going on in your life.

It is important to validate and reflecting what a tradesperson might say to you a co worker, or you the employer, it might be easy to disarm it with humor but not always the best course of action. It is difficult for a lot of tradespeople to share and speak up. We discuss the wonderful fake world of social media and possibly consider reducing the amount of ultra fake accounts that present fake lifestyles and begin the process of not comparing oneself to fakeness.

Tradespeople should consider self care, focus on decompressing after a long day, relax at home, get exercising, studies have shown that getting active can have a better result then some medications. We discuss addictions and the reasons behind them beginning with work being its own addiction and staying away from your personal lives and possible problems. We wrap up the show discussing working with women in the industry.

Danny is the one gentleman that turned me onto natural juices and the many benefits behind them, I began with raw ginger and kept going from there. It has been over 4 years now and drinking raw juices is a part of my daily routine. Thanks Danny. Manny TCL
